Well I must say hello to all!
I’m sure that many people are wondering what the latest is with Judah and I. Well, to start with, we are both alive and doing well in case anyone was worried
I know that its been over a year since my last post, and for that I apologize. Some of you may have heard the latest changes for Judah and I, and a lot of you (if your still tuned in here) may not……..sooooooo, here I go.
If you read my last post, I mentioned that I had made contact with a friend of mine from childhood that had lost her husband in a car accident…..well there is a reason why I haven’t had as much free time to post regularly on the computer. Before, I say more, I would like to introduce her first. Her name is Monica. Her family and my family went to First Baptist Church in Mt. Holly NJ together. In the late 80′s her family went to Africa to do missions work. By the time they returned, I had left for College never to return to my home state. We hadn’t contacted each other since then…..fast forward….
May 2009
I found out through my Father, that Monica’s husband had died in a car accident. Originally, I thought that it had just occurred, so I was trying to get in touch with her as soon as possible to see how she was doing. After several days of waiting for an email response, she finally wrote back explaining that it had occurred in March of 2007. With that being said, we began to catch up with the past 20 years of our lives and what we were up to. I found out that she had moved to Raleigh NC and was an Optometrist there. We both did the math and realized that we were only 4 hours away from each other. She told me that her younger brother Josh had moved to Raleigh to keep her company and that they shared a house there. I though, why don’t I come up there and visit for the weekend…and catch up…face to face. So we did….and the rest is history! Just kidding…not so fast.
I ended up going up to visit her every weekend for the next couple of weeks. She alternated and began to come down to visit me Judah and my parents in Charleston. (Dad just retired, and they moved into the house with me until they could find a place of their own.) We knew right away that we were meant to be together at this point in our lives. We wanted to get married and start our new life together as soon as possible. So July 20th 2009 we got married in the Raleigh Magistrates office. Yes, I know that’s like two months later
We got married and I resigned from the Charleston Police Department and Judah and I moved to Raleigh. Later on Sept. 4th, we went to NJ and had an official big wedding ceremony with all of our family. It was really cool.
So……..I got a job with Cary Police Dept. right outside of Raleigh. I am adjusting to being back at the bottom of the totem pole again
Monica, Judah and I are bonding quite beautifully together, and we are very much happy and excited about the future……did I forget to mention that we have a baby girl coming in about 6 weeks……and can you guess which hospital she is going to be born at.
Duke! Of all the places I hoped to never return! I laugh sometimes thinking about how kind the Lord is when he can take a place that brought so much pain and heartache, and turn it into a place of redemption. I mean, it is quite amazing for me to think through the past two years and consider all of the directions the Lord has taken me through to get me where I am today. Through it all I can truly say, that God is loving and kind and merciful. He did not leave me lonely to wallow in grief for ever. The other night, Judah, was sad about missing Ramey, and he asked me why God let her die. I could only tell him that because sin is in the world, hardships will happen to us, but God is so kind because he didn’t want us to be sad and lonely forever, he wanted us to have a new mommy and new baby sister to help us get through this life. What more can you say. We will definitely face hardships, but we know that God is faithful to comfort, strengthen, and restore us. He has truly blessed me with an incredible new family to finish out this “leg” of the race.
With that being said, we definitely miss Ramey everyday. If it wasn’t for the fact that we know that we will all be together again, I think life would be unbearable. Monica would agree with me on that, she is in the same place with her husband Heath.
We love you guys, and miss you all, even those I never met in person. You were a great encouragement to me and my family through everything. I wanted to make sure that you guys were also able to know that your prayers have been answered, and that Judah and I are being taken care of. We would love to hear from y’all soon.

Thinking about Ramey tonight. How it doesn’t seem fair that I’m here and she’s there. Judah and John always not far from my thoughts.
